The U.S. needs to invest in training incumbent workers for an inclusive economic recovery | National Skills Coalition – Paul Champion TranZed Apprenticeships Believes Apprenticeship’s are also part of the solution.

Once again, this is another great piece by the National Skills Coalition. It aligns so well with what we at TranZed are hearing from employers too.

Many employers currently have a hiring freeze on new openings, but desperately need new skills to support their business as it adapts to the new normal.

Therefore employers are starting to look at putting their current staff onto apprenticeships to give them the skills that they need during this transition period.

They feel this is a great solution, as the employers know their current staff and their current skill levels, but more importantly, known what skills their employers need to have. Apprenticeships give employers the opportunity to develop tailored options and individual learning plans.

Current employees are also really keen and energized to ensure that they have the opportunity to build their skills to better secure their future employment. It’s really a perfect solution!

One issue is that not many employers know that you can have your current internal staff on apprenticeships, and don’t realize the many benefits that come with having apprenticeships in your business.

Over a 12 month period, the internal staff on the apprenticeship, have related instruction and on the job training so that they have the skills, knowledge and behaviors required to move up the ladder within the business, all without the high costs of external recruitment.

Once those internal apprentices are moved up to higher positions, after the year, employers feel more optimistic that the recruitment freeze will be lifted and then they can work with TranZed to recruit new blood into their business for their vacant entry level positioning, through an apprenticeship.

We see Apprenticeships being a key part of the Skills Led Recovery across America and it can be integral in the stimulus required to support employers through these challenging times. ( Paul Champion, CEO TranZed).
