The 157 Group and Ofsted have published a think piece about good practice in the governance of teaching, learning and assessment, which includes the outcomes of a workshop with governors and leaders of further education colleges.


Lynne Sedgmore, executive director of the 157 Group, said, “The responsibilities of governors in the critical area of teaching, learning and assessment are made clear in the Common Inspection Framework for Further Education and Skills, but governors often report feeling inadequately equipped to perform well in holding senior leaders to account for standards. This report focuses on issues of process, structure and human relationships, and showcases some examples of good practice from within 157 Group member colleges.
