Jobs could go at college
STAFF at Cornwall College have been told they face a consultation period and possible redundancies in a bid to make savings.
The college currently operates a site in Saltash but as yet it is unclear exactly which campuses and staff members will be affected by the potential cuts.
A Cornwall College spokesperson said: “We are reviewing corporate structures and processes across all of our sites to ensure that we are well placed to continue to provide the highest quality of education and training to our students within the budget set by our funders.
“We have entered a formal consultation period with our staff and the unions about possible restructure, redundancy and redeployment as a part of this process.
“We are also looking at other ways of making savings throughout the organisation to reduce the impact on staffing levels.”
This follows the announcement from City College Plymouth concerning ‘efficiency savings’.
The college, which employs around 800 permanent staff, said on Tuesday that they are considering voluntary redundancies with possible forced job losses.
It is feared as many as 100 jobs could be cut during the 90-day consultation period.
