Year 10 pupils make the grade with workplace skills
BEVERLEY: More than 70 pupils at the town’s largest secondary school have gained a qualification after undertaking work experience in local businesses.
All Year 10 pupils at Longcroft School and Performing Arts College have the chance to take a week’s work experience during the spring term.
work experience: Longcroft School and Performing Arts College.
The opportunity has enabled 72 students to gain a level two award in developing skills in the workplace – a qualification which is equivalent to half a GCSE.
Several students have used their placements to help them decide what career path and future qualifications they want to take.
Some have also secured holiday jobs thanks to their placements.
Pupils have been able to gain work experience at a wide range of businesses, including tourism venues, as well as in local government.
Longcroft’s work experience co-ordinator Jan Nichols said: “Dozens of local, independent businesses and organisations provided placements.
“Longcroft would like to thank all of them for their vital support.”
