Virgin Media offering 120 new apprenticeships
May 10, 2012
Young people looking for work are being offered the opportunity of an apprenticeship with a leading digital communications provider.
Virgin Media is searching for 120 new recruits to train as engineers who would be responsible for installing and maintaining the company’s broadband, phone and digital TV services.
The 12-month access field apprentice will work towards the company’s nationally recognised NVQ in communication technology.
Peter Van-Den-Broeck, head of apprentice programs for Virgin Media, said: “Our field apprenticeship scheme is going from strength to strength, with successful applications more than doubling each year since 2008.
“We are thrilled to be offering apprenticeships to switched-on youngsters in Reading.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to invest in the future of the business, while offering local youngsters a great start to their career.”
Hotel chain Travelodge is also looking for 40 apprentices to join its junior management programme, called JuMP, this spring.
The scheme is a fast-track route into management and, the company says, provides A-level students with a realistic alternative to university.
Candidates who would like to take part can express an interest to join the Travelodge JuMP scheme by emailing their details to jump.
