Punch Taverns adds support to apprenticeship summit – Eat Out Magazine

4th May 2012, 2:54pm

Punch Taverns is the first pub company to pledge its allegiance to apprenticeships by backing a premier cross-industry event to spotlight the new way to train, support and establish professional careers in the pub trade, using the BII Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality.

The ‘National Licensed Hospitality Industry Apprenticeship Summit’ has been created by the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers’, the British Beer and Pub Association and the BII and will be held on June 26 at the Sketchley Grange Hotel in the Midlands. In addition to Punch Taverns, support from other pub companies will be announced shortly.

BII Chief Executive Peter Thomas will open the Apprenticeship Summit, which will be attended by licensees, pub companies, training providers and young people interested in finding out more about a career in the licensed hospitality sector.

Director of BIIAB Cathie Smith will outline how the Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality will change the face of training and staff development forever, while funding experts, government representatives, and experts in employment will take part in a panel debate chaired by industry consultant Phil Dixon.

Stonegate Pub Company, JD Wetherspoon, Charnwood Training and Peter Avis from Babylon, who will share his path to success with delegates, will take part in an afternoon debate that’s set to clearly demonstrate how apprenticeships can provide a motivated workforce that will improve businesses and increase profits.
